Have you ever doubted prayer? Consider the story of Hezekiah—it is told in THREE books of the Bible: Isaiah, 2 Kings, 2 Chronicles.
“Hezekiah became terminally ill. The prophet Isaiah came to him and said, ‘Put your affairs in order, for you are about to die.’ Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord. He said, ‘Please, Lord, remember how I have walked before You faithfully and wholeheartedly, and have done what pleases You.’ And Hezekiah wept bitterly. Then the word of the Lord came to Isaiah: ‘Go and tell Hezekiah that this is what the Lord God says: I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. I am going to add 15 years to your life.” Isaiah 38:1-5.
I’m telling you! GOD ANSWERS PRAYER. I have seen it. Sometimes He says “No.” Or even “Wait.” But often God says, “YES.”
Jesus said, “Ask and you shall receive. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened.” Matthew 7:7.
What do you need or want that you have not asked for? ASK! What if Christmas were coming and your children could not think of anything they wanted? It would be disappointing because parents LOVE to give their children good gifts, right? God loves to do the same!
Jesus said, “If you then know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give what is good to those that ask Him?” Matthew 7:11. God LONGS to bless you! Why don’t you ask?
James 4:2 says, “You have not because you ASK not.” So why aren’t you asking? And if you can’t think of things to ask for, think harder! Make a list! What do you need from God? Write it down and ask Him to bless you. He is coming to you with a tractor-trailer full of blessings—and you show up with a coin purse to carry them home in? God LOVES to bless you, but you have to step up your game and START ASKING. Ask God for big things!
