What is the point of our short little lives?
“All humanity is grass… the grass withers, the flower fades, but the Word of our God remains forever.” Isaiah 40:6,8.
“The nations are a drop in a bucket, a speck of dust on the scales… all the nations [6,000,000,000 people!] are as nothing to Him, nothingness and emptiness…. Do you not know? Have you not heard? God is enthroned above the earth and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers in His sight… He reduces kings to nothing and makes judges lose their minds. He blows on them and they wither.” Is. 40:21-24.
But it is not so with believers like you….
“Do not fear for I have saved you. I will be with you when you pass through the waters, and the rivers will not drown you. You will not be scorched when you walk through fire, and the flame will not burn you. For I am your God and your Savior. You are precious in my sight and I love you. Do not fear, for I AM WITH YOU.” 43:1-5.
So what is God’s purpose? Sure, these verses say He will defeat our enemies and protect and save us. But why? So we can glorify Him. Not only by saying it but by our actions. God is honored and glorified when His people share His love, light, hope, truth, and yes, His holiness. When you live a holy life, you are giving God glory—and THAT is why you are here: to give God glory by living your life HIS WAY. That is your purpose, and the more you live out THAT purpose, the happier and more fulfilled you will be—because God created you with needs that only holy, Godly living can satisfy.
“Everyone called by My Name and created for My Glory.” Is. 43:7.
You see that? God Himself describes us as having been CREATED FOR HIS GLORY. Ask Him to show you how to give Him glory every day, in every decision, and with every word you speak. The people around you need to see God’s glory!
