Johnny Derouen writes, “Being a bond servant of Jesus is not a once-and-for-all thing! We make choices to obey and honor Him dozens of times a day.”
That is so true. You’re not a believer because of something you did years ago. You’re a believer because you chose to obey this morning, this hour, this minute. Walking with Jesus is something you do one decision at a time. With every decision you make, stop and ask Him what to do. Is this the right choice? Is this how I should use my time this afternoon? Where do You want me to go today? Whom should I talk to? What should I say? And what should I watch? What should I read? Will this decision give you glory, God? Will this behavior make You look good?
You can literally ask God these questions all day long, hundreds of times a day. And then listen! Expect an answer. If you will shut off the TV, music, videos, and social media—if you will give yourself some TRUE SILENCE—God will speak to you.
“Just as you have trusted Christ to save you, trust Him, too, for each day’s problems; live in vital union with Him.” Colossians 2:6.
Manasseh was a seriously EVIL king in Jerusalem. He promoted idol worship, practiced witchcraft and sorcery, sacrificed a son to the idol Mollech, and influenced the nation to become more evil than the pagan nations around it. But God was merciful. “The Lord spoke to Manasseh and his people” 2 Chronicles 33:10. Can you believe that? If God would speak to them, He will speak to you! Ask Him to speak—and EXPECT Him to answer.
Sadly, Manasseh did not listen. But later, when he and the nation were captured and taken to Babylon as slaves, he humbled himself, sought God, and was restored.
So I’m asking you to seek God and listen to His answers BEFORE you suffer the way Manasseh did. Seek Him over and over, all day, in every decision. That is how you walk with God and live a life filled with blessings. One tiny moment at a time. Baby steps, all day, every day.
