I am my family’s shepherd.
Father, help me to provide for all their needs.
Help me to find green pastures for them, moments of peace and calm and rest.
Help me to lead them to quiet waters, where their needs are met and where there is no anxiety, no drama.
Give me words of grace and comfort to restore their souls.
Show me the paths of righteousness so I can lead them to lives of holiness
That will glorify You.
And when the hard times come, when their lives are overshadowed by the fear and grief of death,
Help me show them how to fear no evil, not even the evil of death, knowing You are with them.
May the rod and the staff comfort them—comfort my family with the knowledge that their father will defend them against threats from outside of themselves, and will discipline them or encourage them against threats from inside their own hearts.
Help me to prepare a table before my family even when we are attacked by enemies.
Show me how to bless them, to pour anointing oil over them through words, affection, and acts of blessing.
May their lives overflow with blessings from their father.
Show me how to bless them with Your goodness and Your lovingkindness all the days of their lives, even after I am gone.
And may they never forget that any house I provide them—even if it were the greatest this world had to offer—is only a temporary home, but we will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. You are our real Father, and Your Home is our real home.
